JanSport® Lends A Hand with NBC'S "TODAY" Show
JanSport donates over 275,000 worth of backpacks and apparel items to
Casa de Esperanza de Los Niños in Houston, TX

San Leandro, Calif., (June 15, 2011) - JanSport, the original outdoor gear brand that equips people globally with quality backpacks, travel gear and collegiate apparel, today extended its support to the NBC "Today" Show's tenth annual "Lend a Hand" charitable project. For the third consecutive year, JanSport donated more than 10,000 backpacks and apparel items, totaling over 275,000.

 

JanSport's contributions were featured on TODAY's June 15 episode, where host Al Roker delivered supplies to Casa de Esperanza de Los Niños in Houston, Texas. Casa de Esperanza de Los Niños - The House of Hope for Children - is a safe place for children in crisis due to abuse, neglect or the effects of HIV. They provide residential, medical and psychological care according to the needs of each child. The goal is to return physically and emotionally healthy children to stabilized homes where caregivers can safely provide daily care.

"Lend a Hand" began in 2002 as a way to jumpstart smaller charities across the country that work towards improving conditions in their communities. TODAY host Al Roker kicked off the tenth annual "Lend a Hand" series on Monday, June 13 and continued his week-long roadtrip, surprising five exceptional charities with truckloads of donations.
