» Travel Pack and Business Bag FAQs
How do I know what luggage pieces can be carried on the plane with me?
Airlines have made some pretty significant changes in their carry-on policies. JanSport luggage items that meet carry-on requirements will state it on the item's hangtag. If in doubt, please check with your travel agent, contact your airline carrier or check with your local airport.

Lost Luggage?
If your airline loses your luggage, go immediately to the baggage or customer service office in the airport. This is usually located near the baggage claim area. Complete the reporting form and refer to the packing list made prior to beginning your trip. Receipts for newly purchased travel goods, expensive clothing and other items of value help when making claims.

What are the carry-on regulations for the major airlines?
By the time you read this printed piece, the airlines will have out-guessed us and changed again, but as a general guideline:
Most U.S. airlines allow carry-ons of 22" x 14" x 9" or 45" total (height + width + length). Generally this includes handles, wheels and other exterior bits. Remember that each individual airline may have their own guidelines, and they do change without notice due to a variety of circumstances, so always check with them before your flight if you are unsure. See the below chart for recent carry-on information from most U.S. domestic airlines.
NOTE: International carriers have different carry-on regulations for their international and domestic flights. If you need carry-on regulations for nondomestic flights, we recommend that you contact your airline directly.
Oversized/Overweight Bags
Please note: some airlines now charge a substantial fee for checking oversized or overweight bags. The definition of an oversized bag is one of more than 62 linear inches (height + width + length). Depending on the airline, bags exceeding 50-70 pounds may be considered overweight. Please check with your airline for a list of restrictions.

What makes your All Terra luggage better than other brands?
It is luggage designed for people on the go, with stuff they
have to carry. Boots, wet stuff, dirty stuff, personalized stuff, lots of stuff. Plus it can be re-configured like a million different ways (okay 5, but that's still 4 more ways than most bags). Then we made it from tuff ballistic and ripstop nylon. It might be the last bag you'll ever need.

Are your packs tough enough to survive what the airlines do to them?
From Tarpaulin reinforced abrasion areas to the hardest of hardcore nylons - our packs can survive any luggage handler.

Will my laptop bag still protect my computer even if it doesn't have Shock Shield?
While
Shock Shield is the state-of-the-art best protection, all JanSport computer cases offer more-than-adequate protection for most peoples' daily use. Shock Shield is for the extreme user's daily abuse. Our standard bag is dual density foam inside a quilted lining provide more protective padding than many competitors offer in their best cases.

My luggage always ends up leaking water when it gets wet. Are your bags waterproof?
There is no such thing as "water proof" luggage. All bags have seams, zippers, hinges, etc. Water is able to pass through any of these. However, all JanSport products offer extreme water penetration protection by backing our materials with a high quality polyurethane. Never use a suitcase as a floatation device, but if it rains, you should be fine.

Would you recommend a laptop-specific bag or brief?
We recommend carrying whatever bag you're most comfortable with. Please examine our Laptop & Business category.

Does your luggage have a place to hide valuables or even a locked sections?
Many of our bags have interior pockets, but we don't recommend smuggling, or leaving really valuable items where someone (other than yourself) may get at them.

How do I clean my JanSport luggage?
We recommend a gentle hand washing with mild soap and water.
