Since 1979, Telluride Mountainfilm has been one of America’s longest-running film festivals.  The festival has always been best described by one word: inspiring, and more than any other, that's how JanSport and other festival goers describe their experience.

In additional to screening leading independent documentary films from around the world, this year's festival included a full-day symposium on a contemporary issue, art and photography exhibits, early morning coffee talks, student programs and a closing awards ceremony.  The theme for this year's festival, The New Normal was meant to collectively work toward reducing our impact by using the power of story to fuel innovation and community building.

Beyond the festival and tour, Mountainfilm endeavors to supports, educate and motivate through various initiatives, including continued commitment to help creative individuals tell stories that represent the spirit of the Mountainfilm, while helping to promote action toward positive changes. In addition to the initiatives, the festival is made up of many moving parts, which include Mountainfilm on Tour and Mountainfilm for Students.
